Description
This Song Is A Douche has nearly 200,000 plays on Spotify alone after just three months of digital streaming as well as millions of plays on TikTok after being used in thousands of organic user-generated videos! Following the 2001 breakup of the well-regarded Chicago emo band NYMB, lead singer/guitarist/songwriter Elaine Bradley (later of NEON TREES) assembled a short-lived side project called There Is No Dana with former NYMB drummer Ben Kane and EIFFEL TOWER bassist Pete Wulff. In the winter of 2002, the group self-recorded a six-song EP titled Angry Gladiator Shakes Tiny People on Bradley's digital 8-track in their practice space, an industrial sheet metal fabrication shop, after just a handful of rehearsals and two late-night recording sessions. There Is No Dana played just a single, ham-fisted show at the now-demolished Black Rock Bar in Roscoe Village, a neighborhood watering hole where some of the band members used to hang out. Only a few CD copies were made, and digital distribution was limited to Bradley's solo music website before the album - and the site itself - vanished from the early internet entirely. That is, until fall 2024, when a leaked copy began circulating and the track "This Song Is A Douche" blew up on TikTok, becoming a viral sensation among a new generation of emo fans. The EP was mastered by Carl Saff and is now being reissued on vinyl for the first time with liner notes and slightly re-worked art featuring a drawing of the original CD cover by Emiliano Gonzalez (@nosoychapucero).
