Description
Darla Records is pleased to offer the expanded 20th Anniversary Edition of My Morning Jacket's classic breakthrough record At Dawn with the added bonus of a complete Jim James live acoustic set of seven tracks recorded by Erik Wofford in the Radiology X-ray Room of the old Student Health Center, University of Texas, March 17, 2001, just three weeks before the release of At Dawn. The live performance was recorded and later broadcast on KVRX. Featured all together here for the first time are six previously unreleased tracks from the session, plus Bermuda Highway (Live KVRX) from the same, which is also featured on the compilation Chapter 2: Early Recordings. This is a recording of outstanding quality and captures a peak performance by Jim James... These Louisville rockers caught fire in Europe with their 1999 debut "The Tennessee Fire"-but it was "At Dawn, " their 2001 sophomore album, that gave them their first big lift at home in the States. The cavernous reverb on Jim James' voice was the product of him recording his vocals in an empty grain silo; this haunting fusion of country-rock and psychedelia still captivates, and this 20th-anniversary edition is a welcome celebration of a pivotal moment for this great band. Along with the complete album, you'll hear Jim's March 2001 acoustic set at the University of Texas, a set that was later broadcast on KVRX. His riveting performance was recorded beautifully, and six of those seven tracks are previously unreleased: the "At Dawn" songs "Just Because I Do, " "Bermuda Highway, " "Lowdown, " "Hopefully, " "I Needed It Most" and more! Darla.
