Glitter Feather makes a bold statement as the debut release from West Coast's new pop darlings Avaleya and The GlitterHawks! The 5 song EP marks the beginning of a collaboration of some indie pop notables Kelly Slusher (a.k.a. Avaleya), Verna Brock and Jim Rivas (both of Rocketship fame). The band is largely the vision of Avaleya, who is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, comedian and a visual artist. The goal is to create music that will make you both dance and think. The EP delivers in songs that are both eclectic and rhythmically rich. Here the music sets the perfect stage for Avaleya's voice which is elegant and worldly, borrowing broad melodic influences from Madonna to Lykke LI, to others such as Valerie Trebeljahr from the Munich based Lali Puna. Blue Dream kicks off the EP with a sound reminiscent of the Dum Dum Girls. Chain of Lakes has an infectious consistent groove that sits perfectly in the pocket while Avaleya's sultry vocal performance is sexy, imagine The Clash meet Bananarama on the dance floor. Mary Girl is a story song told in classic indie pop style, upbeat, light and lots of fun. Sea Witch is an intimate, slightly darker song that is thrusted by a powerful driving beat, think The Cure meets Kate Bush. The EP ends with a feel good jamboree called Sounds Like This it's a hoot!
