Bobby 'Blue' Bland was a founder of post-war urban blues. Born in Tennessee in 1930, Bobby moved to Memphis and soon began cutting records for legendary labels like Modern, Sun and Chess. He found his breakthrough once he began recording for Texas based Duke Records. He was a giant in the worlds of R&B and Blues from the mid 50's until his death in 2013. Some of his biggest hits include Turn on Your Love Light (covered by Them and the Grateful Dead) Further on Up the Road (covered by Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen and Johnny Cash) and Ain't No Love in the Heart of the City (Covered by Whitesnake, sampled by Jay-Z) Bobby is a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Blues Hall of Fame and was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Grammy in 1997. His live performances are as legendary as his recordings. His phrasing and sense of timing led to him being dubbed 'The Sinatra of the Blues'. He always had fantastic bands and knew how to work an audience. Live and Righteous brings together previously unreleased songs from two shows in a package sure to appeal to his legion of fans.
