Camilo,Michel Triangulo CD

Pianist Michel Camilo is joined by bassist Anthony Jackson and percussionist/drummer Horacio "El Negro" Hernandez for 10 tunes exploring a variety of styles including Latin rhythms and Caribbean and Latin harmonies. This release also includes 4 covers of such jazz classics as "Con Alma" by Dizzy Gillespie which Michel shows off dazzling technique and improvisational imagination. Michel's latest album entitled "Triangulo" is somewhat of a departure from his previous release, "Spain", which was an exploration of the many facets of Latin jazz. While there are still Latin rhythms underlying the performances on this release (such rhythmic qualities are likely part of Michel's genetic system), other styles are explored in combination with Caribbean and Latin harmonies. "Triangulo" is an ambitious undertaking which has spawned a highly riveting and enjoyable experience for the listener.
