Description
Like the early rays of summer, chasm's much anticipated sophomore album is a two-hit swing of differentiating moods and incredible vocal prowess. The electric combination of Chasm & Vida Sunshyne debuts with Move, an album strong in it's reggae and soul roots, blended with perfection by an impeccable production touch. Having flourished behind the boards on his 2008 debut beyond the beat tape, alongside work with mc's Dialectrix and Skryptcha, Chasm unleashes his full musical scope with move. A remarkable talent in her own right, Melbourne's Vida-Sunshyne composes songs with substance. With a voice so distinct, she sings with attitude in "For All You Knew" before sharing vocal duties with noted British hip hop artist Million Dan in the internationally flavored "Twinkle Twinkle". Her spotlight shines brightly on the Damajah guest-starring track "Stress", a song bursting at the seams with top-of-your-lungs freedom. A party track, a drive time anthem, an emancipation song, it is a statement that declares the Chasm/Vida-Sunshyne pairing as truly noteworthy, capable of many great things. Chasm showcases some of his production in the album's instrumental interludes- "Lion Up", "Don Dada", and "Meditations"- completing Move's cohesive aural themes. "Give Thanks", featuring Mantra, is a song that summarizes the album's tone- a celebration of music's good nature and positive sway while tipping it's hat to the artists, musicians, and fans who share it's embrace. Like Move in it's entirety, this is music for everyone, music of great positivity encapsulated by the album's telling title.
