War stories marks the welcome return to the Australian country music scene for golden guitar winner, singer, songwriter and actor, darren coggan. "war stories" is a salute in words and music to those men and women who served their country, in every arena, from the boer war through to the latest terrorist threat. It salutes the anzac, and tells the small stories that make up the big picture that is Australia at war. The songs were penned by darren coggan and ken McBeath and tend to put a more human face on Australia's military history. The songs are about interesting characters from mostly small and personal stories, footnote-like, that are outside the big, simple mainstream history of Australian's at war.
