Description
While Jesse Ed Davis' legacy has finally started to see the light of recognition, there is still a long way to go in establishing his rightful place in the pantheon of rock and roll legends. As a full blooded Kiowa Indian and Oklahoma native, Jesse was a frequent session guitarist back in the late 60's and early to mid-70's. As a sideman he played for years in many San Francisco Bands, cutting his teeth as lead electric for Taj Mahal and penning tunes for The Band, ("Further On, Down The Road") as well. He featured in recordings ranging from Neil Diamond to The Rolling Stones, John Lennon and George Harrison's 'Concert For Bangladesh.' Eric Clapton, Leon Russell and Gram Parsons make appearances here on Davis' self-titled debut. As many great talents he fell prey to drug addiction and died in 1988 at age 43.
