Description

Having already been released in the digital stores, the second release from rising UK Live soulful heads, Dekata Project features some high profile remixes of their most popular track to date, 'At Least We Can Dance'. This is a vinyl release due to popular demand: With airplay on Radio 1's Fabio and Grooverider and Rob Da Bank's shows, and a bubblin under feature in iDJ Mag, the vinyl release was the next logical step. The debut 'Viral EP' featured as one of Metro's Singles of the Week and was championed at the group's launch party at Favela Chic in East London recently, Sam Sharp's Dekata Project have moved swiftly to follow it up with this genre-bending package of remixes. Kicking off 'At Least We Can Dance' is an extended DJ friendly version of the original track, featuring production from the DP team of Sharp and Zed Bias. It's soulful vocal comes from Yvette Riby-Williams, a fresh young talent who also sings with female beatbox and acappella group the Boxettes, and who was recently invited up on stage to perform with Jarvis Cocker at Glastonbury. This extended cut is Dekata Project at their soulful house best, with heavy beats, jazz keys vibes, horns, funk undertones and soaring hook lines. Close your eyes and it's that live Moloko, Jamiroquai and Basement Jaxx vibe that transports you to the dancefloor. On the remix tip, check out the heavy hitter Nu: Tone, with his high energy drum and bass take on the original, dripping in heavy basslines, intricate beats and synth builds that make you want to dance the summer away into the early hours. First signed to Hospital Records in 2003, Nu: Tone has come through the ranks to become one of the most highly respected producers in the scene, with everyone from LTJ Bukem to Dillinja busting his tunes. This remix has charted well on several download sites, including charting at #1 on DanceTracks for a couple of weeks. Currently causing a stir in all dance music circles as one of the main instigators and contributors to the hype and buzz that is the UK Funky Scene, Roska steps up with his Can't Stop Dancing mix. Using broken beats, garage, grime, dance hall and house vibes, Roska's unique sound has critics and compilation makers hailing him as the new sound of London's dance scene, having recently featured in the Guardian and Mixmag. Roska can be found on Tuesday lunchtimes on pirate station, Rinse FM, and has a nice pipeline of tunes being released on his own Kicks and Snares label, including the recently collaboration with Jamie George 'Love 2 Nite' and 'Wonderful Day'. This mix has also charted well, having been a featured track and top 5 download on Juno, and peaking at #2 for the Nu Jazz chart on Dance Tracks.
