Description
Juxtaposing large scale discourse and legislation in the United States with the experiences of one undocumented mother from Mexico, this is the story of how Elvira Arellano fights to protect the rights of her U.S.-born son and herself. Arellano, an employee at an airport in Chicago, awakens to find immigration officers knocking on her door and threatening arrest, not only for illegal immigration, but for terrorism. Rather than stay silent when sentenced to three years probation in 2003, Elvira speaks publicly in order to gain traction for her cause. When she's arrested yet again and deported, it sparks outrage and fuels action.
