Germany, 1919: Having lost her fianc? Frantz in the Great War, Anna (Paula Beer) was well resigned to a life of joining his parents (Ernst St÷tzner, Marie Gruber) in perpetual mourning. One day, however, young Frenchman Adrien (Pierre Niney) began making regular visits to Frantz's grave... and, when approached by Anna, asserted that they'd had a friendship.
