While not released as a single 'Wherever I Lay My Hat (That's My Home)' became a very popular track and 20 years later in 1983, it was a number one hit for Paul Young, stylistically notable for the use of a fretless bass played by Pino Palladino. After two more hit singles, 'Hitch Hike' and 'Pride And Joy' Marvin Gaye was now firmly a part of Motown's growing hit elite.
