Description

In his 40th and final year as a touring performer, Clive Gregson is releasing an album every month in 2020. Born and raised in Manchester, the accomplished singer, musician and record producer, whose career has spanned 3 decades, includes stints with Any Trouble, Richard Thompson, Nanci Griffith and a heralded solo career. "Gregson's Dozen" is an album every month of 2020 - all different, all new, all original. Thinking about making a record of songs about the north west of England for quite a while, Clive had been stockpiling material that he thought might fit. He finally managed to pull it all together for the 2020 series of releases and so here it is. "If memory serves, North of England was the first song I wrote for the project. I was tinkering away in my home studio in Nashville... It's hard to imagine that too many songs came out of Nashville referencing "ferret, flat cap and clogs"..." Other song topics take on The Peterloo massacre of 1819, lamenting the end of hitchhiking, his last proper jobs taken from Employment Centre, and various tongue in cheek looks at Manchester.

1. North of England Days 2. All the Way Back to Manchester 3. Alderley Edge 4. Blackpool, Lancashire 5. Sparkle Street 6. At Peterloo 7. Nobody Hitchhikes Any More 8. These Streets Know Me 9. Summer's Ending 10. Too Much for This Town 11. Something About This Place 12. Peterloo Sunset
