Description
This classic 1959 audiophile recording features the Lawson-Haggart Sextet, one of the greatest Dixieland Jazz aggregations of the 1950 's. Led by trumpeter Yank Lawson who worked with Ben Pollack's orchestra of the 1930 's, became a founding member of Bob Crosby's orchestra and later worked with Benny Goodman and Tommy Dorsey. In the 1950 's he joined forces with famous Dixieland bassist Bob Haggart, who he worked with in the Crosby orchestra, to form the Lawson-Haggart Band. Featured here is "Junior Prom" - one of their most well received albums of the late 1950 's. The recording features an all star lineup including Yank Lawson (trumpet); Bobby Haggart (bass); Bill Stegmeyer (clarinet); Lou McGarity (trombone); Cliff Leeman (drums) with Lou Stein & Dick Hyman alternating on piano. All selections newly re-mastered. [Note: This product is an authorized CD-R and is manufactured on demand].
