Description
2014 album from the controversial Canadian band led by Joel Gibb. Songwriter Gibb works like a visual artist: he constructs sophisticated soundscapes and collages, whose fidelity initially stays hidden behind the aesthetics of harmonious yet brooding pop music. "Gay Goth Scene," for example, was originally thought up as a joke, an ironic finger exercise. Now it sounds like a requiem. It was written while Gibb was still living with his mother in Toronto, more than 10 years ago, where he used to arrange gay Goth scene shows.
