Description
After L.A.'s most promising metal band Steeler, fronted by Ron Keel, broke up after Swedish guitar great Yngqie Malmsteen left to form Alcatrazz, front man Ron Keel began assembling Keel, a hand-picked line-up of great playing and great looking musicians that included guitarists Marc Ferrari and Bryan Jay, drummer Bobby Marks and bassist Kenny Chaisson. The band's debut album, LAY DOWN THE LAW, was Shrapnel Records 14th release and was a strong enough record to attract a number of interested major labels as well as Kiss bassist Gene Simmons, who aided them in getting their deal. Simmons stepped up to produce their major label debut THE RIGHT TO ROCK, which benefited from MTV exposure with the title track. The band took the "best new band" awards in the group's follow up, the Simmon's produced THE FINAL FRONTIER garnered airplay from it's cover of Patti Smiths "Because the Night". The band's debut is now re-mastered and available once again!
