This prolific UK vocalist followed his folk-rock years with Fairport Convention, Matthews Southern Comfort and Plainsong with a long solo career. After moving to California, Ian earned raves (though disappointing sales) with these 1973 and 1974 Elektra LPs, the first produced by Michael Nesmith and the second featuring Jeff "Skunk" Baxter and David Lindley. Ian dives fully into country-rock on "Keep On Sailing," "Shady Lies," "These Days," "Tried So Hard," "Propinquity," "Ol' 55," "A Wailing Goodbye" and more! Beat Goes On.
