Beginning his career from an art space in Bushwick while working weekend shifts as a church organist on Long Island, he is now an award-winning composer for film and game as a partner at the YouTooCanWoo studio in Brooklyn, having a diverse career that has wound through the studios of Hans Zimmer, with performances at BAM and the Yale Institute for Music Theatre. Landing on toucan sounds, a label that has championed the likes of musclecars, Haruka Salt, and Brandon Markell Holmes, Derek Muro's 'cues' marks his spectacular debut as a solo musician, connecting the dots between ambient, jazz, and more.
