We want to export British jazz to America. Find the best men. That was the excuse for this January 1954 Tempo session in wintery London, England. Outside it was snowing; thirteen of Britain's finest modern jazz musicians, led by trumpeter Jimmy Deuchar, were assembled in a freezing studio.
