Description
2019 release. Started as a one-man studio project in 2005 by multi-instrumentalist Giancarlo Erra before evolving then into a full band, Nosound inventively combines influences from '70s psychedelia, '80s/'90s ambient, soundtracks, contemporary alternative and post-rock. The music is evocative and intense with personal songwriting and uses a variety of vintage and modern electronic instruments. Influences range from Pink Floyd to Brian Eno, from Radiohead to Sigur Ros, passing through rock and electronic music. Following the release of the band's new minimal sound on their latest release, 'Allow Yourself', Giancarlo Erra is remastering and reissuing past albums on Kscope, now including the band's breakthrough second album 'Lightdark'. Recorded in Italy, England and the US throughout 2006 and 2007, 'Lightdark' developed the promise of debut album 'Sol29' and exhibited a stronger group identity, revealing a greater contrast between atmospheric detail and the walls of sound created by the band on stage. Highlights include the 15-minute epic "From Silence to Noise", the ethereal "The Misplay" (with cellist Marianne DeChastelaine), and the epic piano/mellotron driven ballad "Someone Starts To Fade Away" (featuring guest vocals from No-Man's Tim Bowness). This edition of 'Lightdark' is presented in digipack packaging complete with a 12-page booklet and has been newly remastered by Giancarlo Erra.
