Description
Opus Est is probably not the Swedish Progressive rock band that will stay in the history of rock. It's quite understandable given the impressive quality shown by the local scene on that point (KAIPA, THE FLOWER KINGS, ANGLAGARD, ANEKDOTEN, ZELLO, MATS-MORGAN, LANDBERK, SAMLA MAMMAS MANNA...). Still, it's a pity, given the obvious talents shown by the members of this band. Mainly influenced by GENESIS, CAMEL and YES, those friendly Scandinavian musicians take a path not so far from that of their fellow-citizens THE FOUNDATION. So, they perform a refreshing music, with a few breaks and quite a lot of energy. Quite unfairly unknown, their only studio album was recorded in 1983 and is called "Opus One". The ten refined and sophisticated tracks included there show a relatively synthetic Progressive rock with dominating keyboards and a dense and quite dynamic drums technique. On the other hand, the singer's voice reminds a little of Peter HAMMILL's in the old days. Let's also mention that gui.
