Russian composer, pianist and conductor Sergei Rachmaninoff is widely considered one of the finest pianists of his day and, as a composer, one of the last great representatives of Romanticism in Russian classical music. Presented on this release is the complete original LP with his recording of his own second piano concerto under the direction of Leopold Stokowski. To the legendary performances present on the original album, we have added further recordings of Rachmaninoff playing his own works: A version of his third piano concerto under the direction of Eugene Ormandy, and solo piano performances of four preludes and a serenade.
