Description

Raised by musician parents in Jackson, Mississippi, singer/songwriter, actress and author Nanette Workman has been based in Quebec, Canada for most of her career. In 1966 Workman recorded her first French language single, "El Maintenant," which rose to #1 on the Canadian charts and remained there for fifteen weeks. In 1969 Workman moved to England and sang backup vocals on "You Can't Always Get What You Want" and "Country Honk", tracks from the Rolling Stones' 1969 album Let it Bleed, as well as on the Stones' 1969 single, "Honky Tonk Woman," - she also worked with John Lennon and Elton John during this period. The 1970's found Workman touring in France and in 1978 she starred in the Rock Opera Star mania as Sadia. In 1977 she released the album "Grits And Cornbread" - a nod to her Southern roots - and was assisted on it by fellow Rolling Stones alumni Jim Price and Bobby Keys on trumpet and sax; Peter Frampton on guitar with Andy Brown (bass, keyboards); Mike Kelli (drums); Madeline Bell, Doris Troy and Lisa Strike (background vocals). All selections newly re-mastered.
