UK LP pressing. After several acclaimed releases on the Domino label, Fife-born singer/songwriter James Yorkston finally appeases his penchant for traditional tunes in full with this collection of, as the title suggests, folk songs. According to Yorkston himself, many of these songs derive from the 1960s folk explosion, taking in such artists' work as Lal Waterson and Eliza Carthy. Eschewing his usual backing band, the Athletes, the musicians assembled for 'Folk Songs' have been dubbed the Big Eyes Family Players and are made up of friends of Yorkston.
